  Wow Shaolu! I knew it got vicious back there, but whoa! I could hardly believe how you were able to keep yourself so calm in such a hostile environment. They weren't interested in helping you at all. I want to say I'm sorry, but then, I'm glad you're free from the lies too. So, congrats on even having the nerves to go. I feel so sorry for your poor friend who had to see it all. I guess he'll never become a JW now. Maybe you did him the best favor ever!

  The discussion I had here in my own living room with an arrogant elder who loves power and a kid ministerial servant, I wasn't able to control myself so calmly!!! I think the poor kid was scared out of his wits when I read Deut. and talked about what is the use of dispensing old literature that has "old light" teachings in it? Isn't that like feeding people spoiled food? What is the sense? Thanks for the glimpse of the dreaded "back room meeting".

  LITTLE TOE: I Sooooooooo hear you! Happy be-lated Birthday to you!!! It is like being a fish out of water trying to figure out how to feel and how to mark it. I am glad we can give the kids memories. I am learning a lot by watching the other parents at school and what they do for their kids. We spent a lot on their first celebrations, but I think that will tone down a bit. I am glad they don't seem to be having any problems seeing how intensely I brain washed them as babies. I remember how much I wanted to celebrate our daughters first birthday. It broke my heart not to. I'll try to remember how I felt and how glad I was to have her I just felt the NEED to celebrate her life and the blessing for having her. I guess that's it. Celebrate our life and the blessings we have. Happy Birthday Little Toe

  Thank you I just got a call from one of my grandmas and my daddy. He called and said "hey old girl" and told me a little bit of what the weather was like when I was born and that I was a morning baby. Sounds the same as when my daughter was born. Horrible winter weather conditions that make you question if you'll make it to the hospital or be stuck in a snow bank delivering in the car!!!!!
  I think I'm going to get an ice cream cake from dairy queen. A winter baby needs a cold frosty cake! And I think I'll take my gift money and but a new purse to put in the new wallet my hubby bought me ( I either get it for b-day or xmas, not sure.) Then everyday I'll be using something to remind me of the specialness of our new holiday celebrations! I think Thursday we'll go out to eat and see a movie to celebrate. Yes, I'm a simple mom. I love it. But I hate that I can't toast with an alcoholic drink, I'm allergic to alcohol. (Makes the scripture about the banquet flowing with wine and well oiled dishes sound even better---I'll get to have a drink!) So maybe a nada virgin drink will be in the picture. Thanks for being the loving friends you are!

  Anyone still have an old "call book"?

  i was just curious if anyone still has their old call book(s); i have no clue what happened to mine.

  someone was talking about bloodguilt on here recently, which made me think of return visits and how i used to feel panicked about being bloodguilty if i did not get back to them.

  That was one of the first things to go! Kept the book, but ripped out all the calls. Thinking of pitching the book because of the memories. Kitten Whiskers P.S. Hypnotoad- hey hubby! I destroyed your call book several months ago and pitched your bookbag! At least I'm pretty sure I did. I'll have to check the closet. But yes, out meeting bags are still packed and rotting away in the closet.

  hi again.... well as you can imagine, celebrating christmas for the very first time ever is quite exciting!!

  i got out all my christmas cards, have most of my shopping done and baked my brains out!!

  oh but what fun times we are having!!

  Just had to share! Today is my birthday. Don't really know how I am supposed feel. I guess I am happy. My dad and both grandmas sent me birthday cards and money. They arrived in the mail yesterday and I could hardly wait to open them today. They're on the mantle now. My uncle, who I am not close to or see, called early this morning to wish me a "happy birthday" . He asked my grandma for my phone number because he's never been able to tell me that before. That was nice. Well, just sharing. It is really odd. Wish I had more memories to fall back on. I am thinking of all the family occasions I have missed. So much more was missed than I care to think about. We plan on celebrating on Thursday. Our little guy has a christmas musical tonight at school. And our daughter's is tomorrow afternoon with church christmas choir practice in the evening. Maybe I'll take the money and go buy a present for myself today. That would be nice. Kitten Whiskers

  We have been attending a new church for about 4 months and there is a "church mailbox" there. You can exchange xmas cards without paying postage to fellow members. Well, we aren't members there, but someone gave us a card. Here's the kicker, they had all of our names on there and I have no idea yet who they are!!! I thought maybe it was the preacher and his wife or one of the families the kids are in the christmas choir with. This is our first card. I hear my aunt and uncle plan on sending one. I am excited to get them. I sent a bunch out to family (not jws) that will probably surprise them. Maybe we'll get a few cards or calls. I am looking forward to checking the mail. Kitten Whiskers

  I Don't Believe in God, or wait, Maybe I Do. . . a little wisdom please?

  i am conflicted as to whether i can or even want to believe in god.

  (using capital g out of respect) i can't separate love of god and my jw life.

  i pioneered for 10+ years, and thank goodness for that, because i can now easily memorize anything and read upside down.

  Give yourself time. I too try to read mostly from the new testament. Came near a nervous breakdown while exiting the jw thinking and trying to figure out so much. Is God's name Jehovah? Is he a trinity? I still don't have all the answers I want. But I am learning to trust his love and not be AFRAID of him. I am going to a church that teaches and shows love. Today the preacher said " If we are in the middle of God's will, we don't have to fear. We are never alone" JW teaching is so warped compared to this simple statement. What did the scriptures really say is God's Will? Loving God and neighbor and taking care of widows and orphans. When we can attach God's will to these and not just think " we have to go in field service every available minute and it will still never be enough", Christ's load does become light and his yoke kindly. This is what I have been finding in the past year since I left. Pour your heart out in prayer and keep searching. Remember the scripture, if you knock it will be opened to you? Keep knocking. I have so many times wished I could ask Jesus questions face to face and have answers. I know I'm not alone. Sometimes it seems like the knock at the door will never be answered, but I think we grasp a small amount at a time. This is a very emotional and psychologically challenging time.
